Sarah Huckabee Sanders sparked outrage saying a kid in the womb will be as safe as they are in the classroom

Even before the Supreme Court’s ruling, Sarah Huckabee Sanders had been expressing her anti-abortion beliefs in controversial ways. A video from a May 2022 rally for the gubernatorial candidate resurfaced on Twitter following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. The Trump-backed Republican maintained her anti-abortion stance.
“We will make sure that when a kid is in the womb, they’re as safe as they are in a classroom, the workplace, a nursing home,” Sanders said in the video. Her comments at the rally — held a day after the elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, according to The Independent — angered many on social media. “And what about the safety [of] a 10-year-old kid in a classroom?” one Twitter user asked. “My daughter was murdered in her classroom. When @SarahHuckabee says ‘We will make sure that when a kid is in the womb, they’re as safe as they are in a classroom,’ I take notice,” Fred Guttenberg wrote on Twitter. “Sarah, your b******* is deadly to kids when they are born.” Sanders hasn’t made a statement concerning the comparison on Twitter and didn’t respond to Newsweek’s request for a comment.
